Sweet Potatoes Recipes to Boost Immune System Against Coronavirus.

We have all heard the news surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
It is affecting every aspect of our lives such as schools becoming virtual, restaurants closing, and most jobs going remote. There has also been an increase in public health measure such as washing our hands, social distancing, exercising, and getting enough sleep to lower the risk of infection, and these safety measures will go on for a long time. Who knows for how long...
However, what I do know, with all the negativity surrounding the planet as of this moment, today is the perfect time to improve our health and eat better to keep our immune system in the most optimal condition.
As I have been in lock down with my family, I was freaking out because I am someone who is active and exercising every single day. Whether that is going to the gym, or taking a nice walk outside.
But then, Ms. Rona (aka. Coronavirus) arrived and plans changed.
So, while working with the team here at Beviva, I thought to myself, since I am going to spent the rest of my day sitting down, probably eat all the junk food left in my pantry, why not make snacks that at least provide me with some kind of nutritional value.

I decided to create a RECIPE BOOK filled with snacks that were not only delicious, but had that proper nutrition I was looking for. Especially foods high in antioxidants that are the key to maintaining a healthy gut and fight off potential disease-causing pathogens.
I spent, all week gathering the right ingredients that are tummy friendly, healthy, vegan, gluten-free, you name it, and provide a nutritious punch that made me so thrilled that I was doing this to begin with.
I used anti-oxidant rich fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, because it is great for strengthening the immune system and helps protect cells from damage caused by free radicals we often become exposed to in the environment.

Another ingredient I used was plant-based yogurt as it is a great source of pro-biotics which are good bacteria that helps promote a healthy gut and immune system as well.
But of course, let’s not forget the most important staple item, our delicious sweet potato friend! Like the sweet potatoes we use from Frieda's Produce! Sweet potatoes like these are loaded with so many vitamins and minerals, and are also rich in antioxidants that protect your body from free radicals just like berries.
The fiber and antioxidants in the sweet potatoes are also great for our gut as it has both soluble and insoluble fiber for which stays in the digestive tract to provide protection for the intestinal lining to keep this organ healthy and strong too.
Oh, I almost forgot, the flesh is also rich in Vitamin A and they are also extra special for their anthocyanins which are super beneficial now during the Coronavirus. We love that!
